eBay — the widest reach for branded and unusual items
eBay finds buyers Poshmark shoppers never search for: designer pieces, vintage workwear, team jerseys, unusual sizes, deadstock with tags. Auctions can work in your favor for genuinely rare items; fixed price is safer for everything else.
Mercari and Depop
Mercari suits mixed household and clothing lots that ship easily in a box. Depop rewards styling and a consistent look — strong for Y2K, streetwear and vintage, weak for plain basics.
Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp and local groups
Best for volume: a full tub of kids' clothes, work uniforms, bundles too heavy to ship. Cash on pickup means no fees, but expect more messages and no-shows. Meet in a public place or at your door, never alone somewhere unfamiliar.
When to donate instead
If an item would net a couple of dollars after your time and shipping, donating is the better outcome. Thrift stores such as Goodwill or Salvation Army generally want clean, wearable, in-season items; textile recycling takes the rest. Keep the receipt if you plan to claim a deduction, and check IRS rules on non-cash donations.
